IEEE AlexSB ITW’09 Day Three Nanotechnology 8/9
nanotechnology August 29th, 2010Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb Nanotechnology Program Director - Nile University CEO of SabryCorp Ltd. for Science and Development Nanotechnology is the next scientific & engineering revolution it means that our design scale is going down to the nanometer. Have you heard of Intel's 45nm processor? Do you know that mean the length of the transistor has become 45nm? Nanotechnology, shortened to "Nanotech", can be applied to every known field not just electronics. For example NASA has designed a plane that can fly exactly like a bird using nanotechnology. There are several other applications of nanotech that are already out and about like: The SD-flash memory, the life straw, Aerogel, self-cleaning paint, ColorMatic monitoring of buildings, etc. The two main equipments involved in developing nanotech are; STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope) and AFM (Atomic Force Microscope). The Nile University intends on starting a nanotechnology program in 2010.
