This session begins with an overview of recent trends in TNE from the perspective of western providers. It highlights factors which will be influential in the development of the TNE market, including the student experience, mobility, and the integration of TNE into providers' mainstream business. It offers a personal vision of the sustained contribution a mature TNE market can make to both provider and consumer countries. The session observes that the way in which governments and providers describe and quantify TNE has yet to converge into a set of international standards. While modes of provision of TNE are converging, there is little agreement on definitions of modes of supply, including partner-supported programmes, international branch campuses, distance education and validation. This lack of clarity is reflected in inconsistencies in data published in the UK and Australia; it hampers the ability to identify trends and poses difficulties for regulatory, accreditation and quality-assurance agencies. The responses, again from UK and Australian perspectives, take a historical view of the ups and downs in TNE. A growth spurt was followed by withdrawal triggered by concerns over strategic focus, return on investment, and quality assurance. Institutions and governments are taking stock. What is interesting about this stock today is the strength of its uptrend. Although the stock has pulled back since topping at $77.57, it is still in an uptrend which sets this stock up for a possible two-sided trade. The direction of the market will be based on the strength or weakness of the major stock indices. If the S&P 500 or the Dow Jones Average recovers from their oversold conditions to produce a rally, Coca-Cola is expected to resume its uptrend. If these two major indices breakout to the downside, then look for the correction to resume. The overall chart pattern is an average 5-bars. The initial trend which measures the strength of the trend prior to the chart pattern's formation is a weak 1-bar. The uniformity indicator is rated 6-bars which means a slightly above average amount of equidistant tops and bottoms. The 7-bar clarity rating suggests a minimal amount of market noise. The channel up chart pattern is a trending pattern. This combined with the higher-top, higher-bottom formation indicates that Coca-Cola has been trading in an uptrend with conviction.
